The most frequently asked question is,

"What should we wear for our family portrait session?"

This advice on clothing color is based on customer satisfaction and many
years of experience. Customers are most happy with their portraits when
their clothing is color coordinated.  Women also say they wish they would have
worn a longer dress, long pants, or long sleeves.  Elbows, knees and feet don't
need to be seen.

The general rule of thumb:
wear clothing darker than your skin tone for the most flattering and slender look.

Babies, clothing optional.

For outdoor groups wear colors that blend with the environment.
Stick with a color scheme such as blues, grays, browns & burgundy.  If one
person wears a white shirt, they will stick out more than anyone else. Leather shoes
and dark socks are preferred to white tennis shoes.

Just remember what ever is lighter in color than your skin tone will take away from
the cohesiveness of the family portrait, example, white shirts and white shoes are
very distracting.

Lighter colors will make you look heavier and most prominent in a portrait.
Khaki pants and button down shirts also look bulky and wrinkly.
Sweaters or a long sleeved knit top are preferred.  No stripes or plaids.

White tennis shoes, white socks and white shirts are big problems in a family group.

Avoid too many different colors.

Wear Powder

Just like for television, men, women and teenagers should powder up
to cover up blemishes, and to tone down the shine on your forehead, cheeks,
chin, and the tip of your nose.  Wear powder that is the same tone as your
skin color.

Women, a little extra eye makeup and blush is encouraged.

OK, so I'll just have everyone wear black to be safe...
Yes, if you want to have your bodies disappear into a big black hole.
It can make a bold statement, if that's what you want. Here are some good examples.
