Basic Features of Photoshop CS

by Diane Schrader Bring your laptop with Photoshop CS, CS2 or CS3 installed
(not Photoshop Elements), and 2 or 3 problem images on a jump drive or
CD to challenge Diane. Photoshop is the preeminent editing software for digital
photography. It has become an industry standard and basic knowledge of Photoshop
is prerequisite for any digital photography enthusiast or professional. This
seminar is designed for anyone who is capturing digital images and needs to
maximize their images for print and web. A simplified workflow involving the
basic tools and techniques will be explored from import to archive, including:
proper ways to download files from your camera or memory card, file management,
monitor calibration techniques to get consistent print results, levels,
sharpening, basic retouching, B/W and sepia conversions, and proper resizing to preserve
the integrity of the file. This is a basic Photoshop seminar and you will walk
away with the foundation to grow your knowledge of this powerful photo editing
software and be ready to tackle more advanced techniques in the next class. Intermediate
Features of Photoshop CS

have taken the basic class first. Basic
level skills will not be taught at this class to benefit those who have paid for
an intermediate level of education. Photoshop is the preeminent editing software for digital
photography. It has become an industry standard and knowledge of Photoshop is
prerequisite for any digital photography enthusiast or professional. This
seminar is designed for anyone who is capturing digital images and needs to
maximize their images for print and web. I will show how layers work and when
you need to use them, along with adjustment layers.
Intermediate use of tools and techniques will be explored for retouching,
head swapping, selective color and extending backgrounds. Time-saving keyboard
short-cuts will be interwoven in this course of study. This is an intermediate
Photoshop seminar and you will walk away with more confidence of your knowledge
of this powerful photo editing software and be ready to tackle more advanced
techniques in the next class. Advanced

styles to text, designing your own mats, saving templates, writing your own
